Learn to Play & Recreational

Leaside Volleyball’s programs provide age and skill appropriate instruction for every athlete in a fun, supportive environment. Sessions are organized in flexible blocks to fit your family's schedule.

Foundational skills for young athletes starting their volleyball journey

Celebrating the legacy of Leaside athletes continuing their journey at prestigious universities across North America.
Ages 8–10

Sunday League Junior

Our Sunday Junior League is the perfect introduction to volleyball for athletes with little to no previous experience. Each session focuses on fundamental skill development, with fun, game-based play that allows athletes to apply what they’ve learned in a supportive team environment.

Participants are placed on teams prior to the first session and train and play together throughout the full 8-week program. This consistent team experience helps athletes build friendships, grow in confidence, and develop a lasting love for the sport.

Throughout the program, athletes are introduced to the five fundamental volleyball skills — passing, setting, attacking, blocking, and defence — through engaging, age-appropriate instruction. Our experienced Leaside coaches use a progressive approach that allows players to learn at their own pace while keeping every session active, dynamic and fun.

Beach Volleyball Camps

Weekly beach camps for athletes of all levels – from those learning the game to rep players training for the OVA Beach Tour. Morning sessions focus on expert volleyball instruction and gameplay, while afternoons feature a mix of volleyball and classic summer camp activities like swimming, paddleboarding, and beach frisbee.

$195–$410

Beach volleyball is a fantastic way for athletes to build a complete, all-around skill set. With only two players on a court, athletes are involved in every rally and naturally develop all five fundamental volleyball skills — passing, setting, attacking, blocking, and defence.  Many rep athletes choose to train on the beach throughout the summer to continue improving their ball control, court awareness, and overall game.

In all of our camps, athletes are grouped by similar experience levels to ensure that instruction, drills, and gameplay are appropriate for each group. This allows newer players to build confidence and learn the fundamentals, while more experienced athletes are challenged with higher-level training and game situations.

Morning sessions focus on expert volleyball instruction, while afternoon sessions combine volleyball with classic summer activities like swimming, paddleboarding and beach frisbee.

Our Intermediate League is designed for athletes aged 11–13 who are ready for the next stage in their volleyball development. Our Senior League is designed for athletes aged 14–17 who are looking for a high-energy, game-focused volleyball experience in a positive and team-oriented environment. The program offers a faster pace of play while continuing to provide coaching, feedback, and opportunities for skill development.

The Senior division places a strong emphasis on gameplay, with athletes competing in structured, officiated matches each week.  A skill-development component is included to reinforce technique and team systems, but the majority of each session is dedicated to game play – creating the dynamic, competitive, and social atmosphere that this age group enjoys most.

Gameplay in the Senior division is athlete-driven and fast moving, with an emphasis on court awareness, positional understanding, and collaboration. Officiated matches provide an authentic game experience and help athletes build confidence and strategy. Our experienced Leaside coaches provide guidance and feedback throughout each session.

Boys Program Intermediate

Develop core technical skills and game understanding in a training environment designed specifically for boys. Progressive, club-style sessions combine higher-level skill development with gameplay components for athletes with some experience as well as motivated newcomers.

Our Boys Intermediate program is designed for athletes aged 11-13 and provides a training environment tailored specifically for boys.  The program is well suited for athletes with some previous experience – whether through school teams, our League programs, or other recreational play – while remaining welcoming to motivated newcomers who are eager to learn.

Athletes train as one group rather than on fixed teams, allowing them to work with a variety of teammates and experience a wider range of gameplay situations. This format encourages collaboration, creates a dynamic training environment, and helps athletes build both confidence and consistency on the court.

Each session features progressive, higher-level drills and skill development, along with gameplay components that allow athletes to apply new techniques and tactical concepts in real time. Our coaches use a tailored approach to ensure every athlete is appropriately supported and challenged.

Throughout the program, athletes continue to develop the five fundamental volleyball skills — passing, setting, attacking, blocking, and defence — with increased technical focus and more game-like progression. Ongoing instruction and feedback help athletes grow at their own pace while continuing to enjoy the training process.
