OVA Age Eligibility

Thank you for your interest in our Club/Rep teams! We hope that the following information will be helpful in understanding the rep team tryout process for the 2025/26 season.

Ontario Volleyball Tryout Policy

All Clubs in Ontario are governed by the Ontario Volleyball Association’s (OVA) Tryout Policies summarized below.

  • Re-Signing Clubs send offers to returning athletes. Re-signed athletes may no longer attend other club tryouts.
  • Open Commitment Clubs may offer spots to any athletes. Committed athletes must not attend September tryouts.
  • Open Tryouts Clubs are permitted to present offers to all athletes who attend scheduled tryouts.

2025/2026 Age Categories

Age Calculator

Athlete age eligibility is determined by birth year and, in some cases, birth month.

  1. Determine the “Chronological Age Class” based on Year of Birth.
  2. If born between Sept 1 and Dec 31, the athlete is additionally eligible for the younger category as per the Extended Age Class.

Real World Example

An athlete born Sept 15, 2010 is eligible for 16U (Chronological) OR 15U (Extended).
